Daniel K. "Kennie" Wilcox, 96, of Georgetown, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Kennie was born on November 9, 1916 in Georgetown, Texas to D.K. Wilcox, Sr. and Inez Dever Wilcox. Born and raised in Georgetown, he didn't stray far from home, attending Southwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After serving his country honorably during World War II as a soldier in the United States Army, he returned to Georgetown to begin his career in banking. On August 27, 1947, he married his true love, Dorothy Louise Kilgore, to whom he was married for 54 years until her death in 2002.

Kennie was active in Georgetown, serving as Vice-President of the First National Bank in Georgetown for 34 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Georgetown Country Club, the Georgetown Optimist Club and the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. He was an avid golfer and was especially proud of the two holes-in-one that he achieved during his lifetime.

Kennie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, and his daughter, Rebecca Wilcox Cockrum. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his grandsons, a granddaughter and great-granddaughters, along with a host of loving family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Georgetown Optimist Club or to First United Methodist Church – Georgetown, TX.
