On Thursday, August 9, 2018 Gladys (Brimberry) Williams, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 82. Gladys had a passion for reading. She was a frequent patron of the Bryan- Bennett Library. She also loved gardening, crocheting, sewing and traveling with her family. Spending time with loved ones was especially important to her.

A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy on Saturday, August 25 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys’ name to the Bryan- Bennett Library 315 South Maple P.O. Box 864 Salem, IL 62881 or may be left at Rogers- Atkins Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband , Claude and children Cheryl Marchello and husband Mark, Lynette Baity and significant other Don Griffin and Doug Williams and wife April. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren- Casey Hodge and husband Dustin, Claire Ellsworth and husband Nathan, Joseph Marchello, Alyssa Williams and Tyler Williams and wife Alissa. She is, also, survived by four great grandchildren and a sister, Jane Carter.

Gladys was born on October 25, 1935 to Roley and Edna (Crain) Brimberry. She grew up in the Kinmundy area and then attended nursing school in Springfield. She worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1982. In June of 1957, Gladys married Claude B. Williams and moved with him during his military enlistment. They returned to the Salem area to raise their family and in 1969 they built their home in Kinmundy. They returned to the Salem area years later. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and siblings- Clifford “Frank”, LeRoy “Hop”, Garland “Butch”, Walter, Pearl Tipsword and Dorothy Sill.
