Alberta M. Wilhite, 93, of Gosport, passed away at Bloomington Hospital on Saturday, January 22, 2011. She was born April 5, 1917, in Monroe County to Albert and Maggie Berry.
She was a graduate of Stinesville High School with the class of 1934. She married Herbert Wilhite on February 23, 1935, and they raised their family on a farm near Gosport. She was a member of Zion Community Church of the Nazarene.
Alberta is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David EuDaly of Bloomington, Susie and Gene Marlin of Greenwood; daughter-in-law, Barbara Wilhite of Ellettsville; 10 grandchildren, Robert Payton of Gosport, Berry Payton of Bloomington, Danny Payton of Kentucky, Gary EuDaly and Jill EuDaly of Bloomington, Julie Graham of Indianapolis, Lucinda Welch of Stinesville, Richard Wilhite of Gosport, Cindy Smith and Tony Marlin of Greenwood; 19 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Berry of Scottsburg, Indiana; and one sister, Lynda O'Neal of Madison, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wilhite, in 2007; daughter, Gloria Chandler; son, Richard Wilhite; granddaughter, Kathy Audette; three sisters, Ophelia Ellett, Cordelia Davis, and Phyllis Huffman.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Community Church of the Nazarene, 6287 West Ratliff Road, Bloomington, with Rev. Andy Hughes and David EuDaly officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, January 24, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Community Church of the Nazarene.
