WILLIAM M. REED, WORKER IN CHURCH, DIES IN WESTMONT

Well-Known Citizen Ill, of Complications of Diseases, for Some Time

FUNERAL ON FRIDAY

William M. Reed, aged 64 years, one of the most active workers in the First Presbyterian Church and Sunday School, died early this morning at his residence, 916 Edgehill drive, Westmont Borough, where he had been ill of a complication of diseases for the last 11 weeks. His condition became critical a week ago.

Funeral services will be held at the Reed residence on Friday afternoon and will be in charge of the Rev. Robert M. Campbell, of the First Presbyterian Church, with interment in the family plot in Grandview Cemetery.

Mr. Reed was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church, was identified with the Brotherhood Bible Class and also with the Ushers' Association. He was chosen an Elder on April 30, 1919, along with Attorney James Graham, J.L. Snodgrass, James D. Rutledge and Andrew S. Crichton. Mrs. Reed is one of the officers of the Young People's Council of the Cambria County Sabbath School Association and is well known throughout the county.

William M. Reed was a son of the late James Reed, agent for the P.R.R. at Lockport, Westmoreland County, for many years, and was a nephew of the late Capt. John M. Reed, an officer in the Civil War. W.M. Reed was born at Lockport during the Civil War, coming here some time before the Johnstown Flood of May, 1889, to accept a position in the P.R.R. freight office under the late Frank S. Deckert. Mr. Reed remained in the freight office until some time after the Flood of 1889 when he entered the General Office of the Cambria Iron Company. During the last 15 years he had been in the order office of the shipping department of the Rod & Wire Mill in Morrellville.

Mr. Reed is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nan J. Reed, and a son, James David Reed, of Southmont, and a grandson, William Reed. Mr. and Mrs. Reed were married in 1888 by the Rev. D.M. Hazlett, brother-in-law of the deceased, the ceremony having been performed at the David J. Jones homestead, then located on Vine street, First Ward. Mr. Reed is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hazlett, of St. Louis, and Mrs. Howard Tibbetts, of Greensburg.

Mr. Reed was one of the charter members of Johnstown Lodge, No. 157, Knights of Pythias, which was established here in April, 1887.
