FERTILE — Lovilla Felland, 94, of Fertile, died Monday (Oct. 5, 1998) at her home in Fertile.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fertile Lutheran Church, Fertile, with the Rev. Roger Kampstra officiating, Burial will be in Brush Point Cemetery, rural Fertile.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City.

Lovilla Marguerite Felland was born on July 24, 1904, in Hancock County, Ellington Township, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Millie (Nesheim) Teigen. She was baptized and confirmed at Ellington Lutheran Church.

Upon completing her schooling, she attended Waldorf College. She was active in church work and social doings, having acted as pianist at Ellington Lutheran Church at one time for a period of four years and as assistant later on.

On Sept. 3, 1927, she was married to Ole Felland at Miller, Iowa. The couple farmed in Hancock and Worth counties until retiring to live on an acreage in Fertile.

They were parents of two children, Sandra, who passed away July 19, 1990 and Roger, who passed away June 12, 1995. Ole died on Dec. 6, 1979.

Lovilla enjoyed Ladies Aid and quilting at the church and always felt people had to have lunch when they came to visit. She was the oldest member of Fertile Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Goldie Felland, of Fertile, Iowa; three granddaughters, Sheila Trees, of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; Lona Trees, of Forest City, and Tanya Olson, of Fertile; six great-grandchildren, Jessica Walter, Sarah, Andy and Ann Trees, Taylor and Sydney Olson; and one great-great-grandchild, Madeline Walter; also, two sisters-in-law, Clarice Felland, of Lake Mills; Anna Rollfeson, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son and daughter, two sisters and three brothers.
