Michael Asabel Britton Wilson Seydel
Michael A.B.W. Seydel was the son of Michael Seydel & Elizabeth (Buck) Seydel, he was born in Mansfield, Ohio, on May 7, 1832, and he died on May 28, 1931, in Iowa City, Iowa.
The family moved to Iowa in 1841. Iowa at that time being a Territory, and was admitted to the Union, as a State on Dec. 28, 1846. They moved to Iowa City in 1847.
On Nov 29, 1857, Michael married Elizabeth Stebbins she was born in 1839, and died in 1862.
They had two children:
Robert Newton Seydel, 1858-1922,
Ruth Seydel, 1862-1863.
Michael second marriage was to Fannie Markley. She was born in 1837 and died in 1904. They had four children:
Fannie May Seydel, 1869- ,
Emma Emelia Seydel, 1871-1925,
Samuel Jordon Kirkwood Seydel, 1873-1947,
Ashabel Wilson "Willie" Seydel, 1876-1877.
Michael A.B.W. he was a carpenter by trade. He was well liked by all who met and knew him. He was a stately gentleman, walked a lot, and never wore glasses, hearing being his only handicap. He was a kindly and devoted family man, always performing his duty, as when in 1853, he purchased a home, in Iowa City, Iowa, and the next day signed an agreement, which gave his father and mother, Michael W. and Elizabeth Seydel, the use of this home for their lifetime.
