Mrs. Ellen Mary Smith- Dakota, Ill., Dec. 8.—Mrs. Ellen Mary Smith, 83, of Dakota, died suddenly while seated at the supper table last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Erb, 769 West Avon street, Freeport. She was born in Center county, Pennsylvania, Feb. 15, 1859, and spent her early life there. She was united in marriage with Samuel F. Smith and came to Illinois on April 3, 1895. They located on a farm in Lancaster township and she spent
the remainder of her life in the vicinity of Winneshiek. Her husband died last April. She is survived by three sons, Harry, of Davis, John, of Durand,
Samuel, of Gresham, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Erb, of Freeport, and Mrs. Ina Schrader, of Pecatonica, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. One child preceded her in death. The body was removed to the Myers funeral home in Dakota, where friends may call. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Erb home in Freeport and at 2 o'clock in the Winneshiek United Brethren church.
