Charles John Liljequist came to America from Jonhopings Lan, Sweden in 1865. He married Agnes C Lindebled in 1866 who also came from Sweden. They had one daughter Agnes C who was born in 1867. Her mother Agnes died in 1867.

Charles then married Sarah Amanda Riegle in 1869 in Stephenson County, Illinois. Their children are Anna May, Clara A, Ada Adelia, Willis Alfred and Eugene Earl.

Charles became a US Citizen 12 Oct 1972-US Naturalization Records.

After Sarah Amanda died in 1909, Charles married Emma Jane Fike aft 1910.

Note from Stephenson County Illinois Records-"Charles J Liljequist, painter, David; born in Sweden in 1841;came to America in 1865; to Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois in 1866, went to Mississippi and Tennessee, then returned to Rockford, then to Davis in 1868; owns town property. First wife Agnes C Lindebled was born in Sweden in 1842, married 1866 and had one child, Agnes C; wife died 1867. Second wife Sarah Regels was born in Pennsylvanis in 1846; married in 1869 and had four children: Annie May, Clara A, Ada Adella, John Alfred."

Addendum: John Alfred is Willis Alfred. Charles did have a brother John living with them. Another son of Charles and Sarah, Eugene Earl was born in 1884.

Charles J Liljequist a well known resident of Davis passed away at his home yesterday afternoon following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon and 1:30 o'clock from Calvery Church. Interment will be made in the Davis Cemetery.
Mr Liljequist was born in Jonkoping, Sweden 86 years ago. He came to the United States when a young man and settled at Rockford where he resided for a number of years. Later he moved to Davis where he had since resided. While living in Sweden he learned the trade of painter and followed that occupation at Rockford and later at Davis. Afterward he engaged in the furniture and undertaking business at Davis conducting that business until ill health caused him to retire. Besides his widow he leaves three daughters and two sons.

Mr Charles J Liljequist was the father of Mrs Annie LaFurge of Davis, Il, Mrs Clara Mench of Davis, Mrs Ada Thompson of Moline and Eugene Liljequist of Henry, and Willis Alfred Liljequist of Freeport.

Note: He was preceded in death by daughter Agnes who died in Canton, IL.
