Donie was the daughter of George W. Holland and Julia Ann Hames, and appears to be the youngest of their 11 children (per her mother's 1900 census). She married John Morgan Griffin in 1907/1908, and to their union were born two children: Janelle and Arthur Monroe "Jack".Besides her parents, Donie was preceded in death by her husband John, and 9 of her siblings: Bettie, Mary D., Beatrice, Plato, Romeo, Sipio/Sippio, Georgianna, and 2 who died before 1900. Besides her children, Donie was survived by brother Cicero Holland, a grandchild (Jack E. Griffin), and several nieces and nephews.
