---Cherry Stapleton, 98, was born on Nov. 11, 1916, in Williston, N.D., and died in her sleep on Sept. 7, 2015, at Aspen Meadows in Billings. ---She owned an Airstream trailer for 45 years and rarely missed an international meeting. In 1973, she met Tyler Stapleton, of Lewistown, at an Airstream event and found the love of her life. They enjoyed 20 years together. In 2010, she moved to Billings to Aspen View Retirement Home and then to Aspen Meadows for assisted living and nursing care.
---She was very happy to inherit three children when she married Tyler: Anne Birkholz (Fairbanks, Alaska), Toby Stapleton (Billings) and Albert Stapleton (Pensacola, Fla.). She lived in Lewistown for 35 years where she was active in the Episcopal Church, Sweet Adelines and Eastern Star.
---She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; husband and a nephew. She is survived by two nieces: Dianne and Joyce, of New York, and their families; nine Stapleton step-grandchildren: (Anne’s) Ethan, Linda, Tyler and Seth; (Toby’s) Kymm, Todd, Corey and Rachel; (Albert’s) Toby Albert and 20 step-great-grandchildren and many great-nieces and nephews.
---Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held in Lewistown at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting Smithfuneralchapels.com.
