Serena May James, 85, of Lake Stevens, died December 30, 2000 in a local nursing home.
She was born May 25, 1915 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and has been a resident of Snohomish County since 1969. Serena was a member of the Lake Stevens Assembly of God and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Theron "Joe" James of Lake Stevens; sons, Jimmy Leon James and wife Carole of Lake Stevens and Howell Martin James and wife Sharon of Ashland, Oregon; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Joe Clark of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; brothers, Donald Martin of Ada, Oklahoma, and Jack Martin of Louisville, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Vonda Thomas of Portland; brothers-in-law, O.Z. James of Oklahoma City and Bill James of Huntsville, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Lake Stevens Assembly of God Church, with burial following at G.A.R. Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Lake Stevens Assembly of God Church.
