Hal was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2003, and it eventually spread to his brain. He passed away in October of 2005, and he is greatly missed.
He was always a quiet man with a unique sense of humor. He used to tease me for my braces when I was a kid, and one of my favorite memories was watching M*A*S*H with him when he lived in Oregon.
