Alton Coy was born to Alton Coy and Dealie Ethyl (Sexton) Coy. Alton's father was a full blood Cherokee indian and settled on land from the Oklahoma land rush. His father died at an early age leaving his mother with two small children Alton and his sister Alma. Alton's mother remarried to George Debnon Sipes and George raised both of the children that his wife had previous to their marriage. Alton was married to Cordelia (Swinford) Coy and she died at an early age from a brain tumor leaving him with 4 children.
