Azariah Crawford Martin was the son of James M Martin and Elizabeth (Crawford) Martin.
Azariah C. Martin was a Captain in the Rev War.
Azariah Martin married Mary E Rhodes/Rodes.

Per descendant, Stephen Del'Aria: "I have Azariah's place of birth as Amherst Co.Va.which would probably be correct because he served in the Amherst Militia during the Revolution. He is an interesting individual because historically at the battle of Camden South Carolina, British General Lord Cornwallis charged the American flank which consisted of Virginia and Carolina militia and they ran. The entire line collapsed because of this and the British slaughtered the Americans.A few months later after the soldiers had returned to Amherst, court was held and the men were rounded up and thrown back in the army and this unit was referred to Azariah Martin's 8 month company to the Continental Army. They were assigned to General Nathanael Greene as support to guard supplies and never saw combat again."

The birth and death dates for Captain Azariah Crawford Martin were found in the DAR #447592 National Rev War record.
