HUNTSVILLE — Lela B. Cooksey, 83, passed away in Huntsville, Texas on March 14, 2012. Lela was born July 1, 1928, in Walker County, Texas, to William Burton and Sara Emma Carter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Earl Cooksey; parents; brothers, William Eugene Carter, Frank Edward Carter, Jasper Newton Carter and Robert Ernest Carter; and sisters, Lizzie Lucille Carter and Nellie Mae Carter Bradley. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Brenda Cooksey; brother, Buck Carter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lela loved to bake cookies and pies and share them with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and sister.

A graveside service for Lela Cooksey will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at the Ebenezer Cemetery Pavilion, in Huntsville, Texas. Minister Gene Cooksey and minister Ben Stulting will be officiating.
