Brenda Joy Cooksey was born on December 25, 1948 to Hubert Earl and Lela B. Carter Cooksey in Palestine, Texas. She passed away peacefully on June 15, 2017 in Huntsville, Texas.
Brenda resided with her parents in Tyler, Texas until they moved to Huntsville in 2000. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ on Fish Hatchery Rd. for the past 17 years. She was a big fan of Elvis Presley and loved to watch all of his movies, as well as old Western movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Earl and Lela B. Cooksey. She is survived by her beloved uncle, Marcus Lee “Buck” Carter, and two special cousins; Sharon Yvonne Bradley and Earleen Strunk.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon – 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Huntsville, Texas, with the service immediately following at 3:00 pm. A private interment will follow the service.
