Byford D. "Biff" Hecht died Nov. 3, 2000, of cancer at age 67. A private
service was held. Mr. Hecht was born Nov. 25, 1932, in Du Bois, Neb. He
served in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Portland in about 1950. He was a
supervisor for Oregon Steel, retiring in 1988. He was a Presbyterian. He
married Eileen Grenfell in 1970.
Survivors include his wife; son, Gary; daughters, Cindy Floyd and Barbara
Young; stepdaughters, Susan Buntin and Joyce Reischman; parents,
Orville and Lorraine; sister, Doris Clark; 11 grandchildren; and two great-
grandchildren.
Interment is in Skyline Memorial Gardens. The family suggests
remembrances to any hospice program. Arrangements are by Skyline
Funeral Home.
