Walter Dellinger, 70, of Quincy, WA died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the Quincy Valley Convalescent Center following an extended illness.

He was born on March 27, 1933 to Barney B. and Nannie Bell (Hulsey) Dellinger in Sophia, New Mexico, and was the youngest of 10 children.

The family moved from New Mexico to Washington State in the late 1940's. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1950.

He married Mary Ellen Alvord on October 17, 1953, at the Allen United Methodist Church in Allen, Washington.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and was stationed in Korea.

The couple lived in the Skagit Valley for 20 years where they farmed and operated a dairy farm. They moved to Othello in 1972, and operated a dairy farm for several years near Basin City. The couple moved to Quincy in 1987.

Walter attended the Quincy Southern Baptist Church and was a former member of the Quincy Moose Lodge and the Moses Lake Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Quincy; his four children: Sharon (Don) Mobley of Othello; Coralie (Mike) Cummins of Kennewick; Allen (Kate) Dellinger of Yuba City, CA; and Rosemary (Richard) Cassal of Quincy; a brother, J.C. Dellinger of Mount Vernon; two sisters: Ruby E. Scott of Burlington and Shirlene Lorentzen of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

Graveside services will beheld on Monday, January 26, 2004 at 12:00 (noon) at the Quincy Valley Cemetery with funeral services to follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Quincy Southern Baptist Church, corner of F Street and 3rd Ave. S.E., Quincy, WA. Pastor Ralph V. Johnson will officiate.

The family requests memorials to the Quincy Southern Baptist Church Building Fund or the Quincy Valley Convalescent Center Memorial Fund.
