Family Pneumonia Siege Claims Fifth Victim Eednesday Night

Mrs, Alma Daniels Nurse In Freeman Family Dies

Mrs. Alma Daniels, who nursed members of the Freeman family during their fatal illness with pneumonia, died Wednesday. She was a half-sister of August Freeman, who died Tuesday and was the fifth member of the family to succumb to pneumonia since March 9.

Mrs. Daniel was nursing in the home of Earl Freeman at Slayden when Miss Vanta Freeman died of pneumonia on March 9. Mrs. A. T. Freeman, grandmother of the young lady, died on a March 17 and that night Earl Freeman also died, all of them being victims of pneumonia, which followed influenza.

August Freeman died at the hospital here Wednesday and his son Barton Freeman, 14 is now critically ill in the hospital, also with pneumonia.

Becoming stricken with pneumonia on March 17, Mrs Daniels was taken to the hospital at Nixon where she died at 4:15 Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were to be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) from the Smiley Methodist church. Interment will be made in the Bundick cemetery near Smiley.
