Sophia Gooding Expires at 91

Mrs. Sophia GOODING, a resident of Larimer County for 60 years, died Sunday evening at Poudre Valley Hospital (Fort Collins). Mrs. GOODING , 91, had been in failing health for three years.

She had lived at the South Eventide Rest Home.

Mrs. GOODING was born at Rayco, MO., Feb. 13, 1873. On Feb. 14, 1896, she married Fred GOODING, who died here in 1957.

The GOODINGS moved to the Poudre Canyon area in 1904 and later engaged in ranching at Livermore. They moved to Fort Collins in 1917, and Mr. GOODING was assistant steward at the Elks Lodge for 20 years.

Mrs. GOODING was active in church work in earlier years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Auld Lang Syne Club.

Surviving are four children - Dr. Cloyd GOODING of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Vera MARCH of Long Beach, Calif., Alvin and Bert GOODING of 321 East Laurel Street; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. A.P. Gains in charge. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
