William Emmitt Pye, 69, of at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.

The Screven County native was a member of Jackson Baptist Church in Screven. He was retiree of Carpenter Local No. 256 and a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Tibbetts Pye of Savannah; a son, William E. Pye, Jr., of Rincon; a step-daughter, Mrs. Linda Bromage of Lisbon, N.H.; six sisters, Mrs. Ruth Horton of Midway, Mrs. Edna Retetka of Winter Springs, Fla., Mrs. Ester Pye of Newington and Mrs. Lillian Cooter, Miss Mary Pye and Mrs. Thelma Reddick, all of Savannah; two step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Terry C. Massey Funeral Home, burial in Greenwich section of Bonaventure.
