Mary Ann Smith was the daughter of Orville Smith and Martha Ann Montgomery. She married Isaac James "Jim" Lane on September 4, 1856. Jim was a confederated soldier and died in 1864. Her mother and father owned the Smith Hotel in Honey Grove and after her husband's death in 1864 she lived in the hotel and managed it.
