Born circa 1809, Frederick Nierhoff purchased 40 acres St. Charles land in 1848. The Fred Nierhoff household of 1850 District 78, St Charles, Missouri, listed the family: Fred and "Cornelia" ages 40, and children: Eliza, Herman, Fritz, Charles, Catherine, and William. Reasonable speculation places Mary (Nierhoff) Gerdemann as the couple's oldest child because Charles Nierhoff was living with Mary and her husband, John Adolph Gerdeman, in 1860. Fred Nierhoff and his wife died sometime after the 1850 District 78, St Charles, Missouri census.
