Paul F. Lynch, Sr., 84, of rural Parsons, died at 9:36 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Labette Health. He had been in his usual health and death was not expected.

He was born February 10, 1928, in St. Paul, Kansas to Francis Alonzo and Blanda Katherine (Kime) Lynch. He grew up and attended schools in St. Paul.

For a time, he worked at the M-K-T Railroad. In 1946, he entered the United States Navy where he served until 1948. Upon his discharge, he worked at Armstrong Ice Cream in Wichita, as a farm laborer at Peck, Kansas; and in the oil fields at El Dorado, Kansas. In 1959, he returned to St. Paul where he worked as a carpenter for LaForge and Budd Construction and also Beachner Construction until retiring at the age of 70.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hosting fish fries, hunting, traveling and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Paul never met a stranger and was honored to have his name on the Lake McKinley Bridge.

He and Esther Mae Hare were married March 18,1950 in Wichita. She survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include: Four Sons – Paul "Frank" Lynch, Jr. Parsons, KS Robert "Lonnie Lynch Atlanta, TX Patrick Lynch Parsons, KS John W. Lynch Parsons, KS Three Daughters – Rebecca "Becky" Jewett LeRoy, KS Susan Lynch Parsons, KS Cassandra "Cassie" Lynch Parsons, KS Nine Grandchildren Three Great-Grandchildren Seven Step-Grandchildren Sixteen Step-Great-Grandchildren Two Sisters – Joan Sutherland Wichita, KS Katherine Lynch Wichita, KS


He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the church where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
