Dr. Atwood A. Campbell, 73, of 525 E. Townline Lake Road, Harrison, died April 10, at the Clare Community Hospital. He was born on Feb. 27, 1910, in Rosebush the son of Homer and Zella (Atwood) Campbell. Dr. Campbell had resided most of his life in the Harrison area. He was graduated from the U of M School of Dentistry in 1933 and practiced until his retirement in 1966. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. Atwood was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1075 of Harrison and served as commander for three terms, a member of the John J. Carton Masonic Lodge 436 of Harrison, a member of the Bay City Consistory, a life member of the Michigan Dental Assoc., a member of AA, and served as supervisor of Hayes Township.
Mr. Campbell was united in marriage to Susan J. Beemer on October 9, 1940 in Harrison.
Surviving are his wife Susan; two sons Homer of Marquette and Thomas of Harrison; two brothers Robert H. Campbell of Clare and Albert A. Campbell of Rosebush; one sister Helen (Lester) McLaughlan of St. Ignace; and two grandsons Hugh and Jay.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, 1983 from the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison, with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Plains (Hayes Township) Cemetery, Harrison.
