Rebecca Shuttleworth, 87, of 20009 Rosebank Way, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at Reeder's Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Maryland. Born August 18, 1919 in Eupora, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus William and Frances Lucinda Willingham Scott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Shuttleworth. She received her B. A. Degree at Mississippi State College for Women, and her M.A. Degree at the University of Mississippi. She taught in Mississippi at the Indianola High School from 1942 to 1970, and the Mississippi Delta Community College from 1970 to 1998. She was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. She was member of the D. A. R., Conococheague Chapter in Hagerstown, and she was Past Regent of the David Holmes Chapter of the D. A. R. in Indianola, Mississippi.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky Leverett of Hagerstown, and Sally Brodie of North Carolina; one sister, Mary F. Sledge of California; one brother, Vernon Scott of Arkansas; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders, 5 Public Square, Suite 307, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740, or Cystic Fibrosis, 10155 York Road, Suite 101, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030. Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola with Rev. Allen Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Indianola City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Boone-Card Funeral Home in Indianola on Saturday, 5:00-7:00 pm. Local arrangements by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard.
