Walter Kemp, son of Wellington and Mary Lamey Kemp was born on June 2, 1910 in Fillmore, Johnston County, Oklahoma. Walter was the second of six children and a descendant of Chickasaw Freedmen. Walter was the grandson of Henry Clay Kemp and Louisa Taylor Kemp and Simmion and Alice Cravatt Lamey. The great grandson of Jackson Kemp and Malinda Euphiny Reynolds Kemp and Lohuntubby and Rose Alahuntubby Lamey. Walter attendd elementary school in Fillmore, OK and later attended Langston University on the GI Bill. He entered the United State Army in 1942 and received an honorable discharge in 1945. On September 10, 1949, he married Ellen Pearling Edwards and they had one child, Carlotta Marion Kemp. Walter was employed at Langston University and retired from Tinker Field Air Force Base. Walter was an avid reader and could often be found doing carpentry work in his garage. Walter loved visiting his father and siblings, Holsey, George, Jeff, LouVennie, Joseph and spending time with his Uncle, Noah Lamey. Being a Dad and a Grandpa was his most cherished gift.
