Evelyn L. Crist, 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Thursday morning, March 8, 2012, at the Wheatland Manor in Wheatland Iowa.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4 P.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 P.M. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center, Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.
Evelyn L. Timm was born on July 23, 1924 in Lost Nation, Iowa, to Elmer and Lena (Weidenhoff) Timm. She married Virlyn E. "Bud" Crist on May 14, 1944 in Clarence, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2007.
Evelyn was a homemaker and enjoyed volunteering at the Jackson County Public Hospital gift shop. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and bingo, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Marilyn (Gerald "Butch") Edwards of Maquoketa, IA, Rita (Garry) Schnoor of Baldwin, IA, Richard (Sheryl) Crist of Maquoketa, IA, Jan (Karen) Crist of Maquoketa, IA, and Jeannie (Scott) Flagel of Baldwin, IA; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Delma) Timm of Lost Nation, IA; a sister, Darlene (Bob) Zaruba of Marshalltown, IA; a brother-in-law, Donald (Aljean) Crist of Maquoketa, IA; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy White of MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Evelyn L. Crist memorial fund has been established.
