Effie Lee Henson, 95, of Buena Vista, died Monday, May 26, 2003 at her home.
Born November 22, 1907 in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel Dodd and Webber Gertrude Henson Gilbert. She was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. Her husband, Lonnie Lee Henson and three sons, Lonnie Mayo Henson, Robert Woodrow Henson, and Joseph Eugene Henson and six grandchildren preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children and their spouses: Christy Bowen of Lexington, Henry Henson of Buena Vista, Lucy Hotchkiss of Lexington, Russell Henson of Buena Vista, Trudi Carter and Herman of Buena Vista, Elsie Smith and Herman of Roxboro, NC, Lou Newcomer and Bill of Lexington; two daughters-in-law, Rose Henson of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Margaret Henson of Bruceton, WV; 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Parker of Fairfield and Pat Hall of Chester; sister-in-law, Etta Gilbert of Buena Vista; and special caregivers, Sonia Hickman and Nancy Rogers.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the Buena Vista Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Buena Vista Rescue Squad. The Lomax Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
