Cyrus married Lydia Marcy on 16 May 1791 in Tunkhannock. They had 13 chidren. He was the son of Solomon and Hannah (Punderson) Avery.

Children other than those listed below were: Solomon, 1796; Nicholas, 1797; Jerusha, 1798; Sally, 1801; Humphrey, 1805; Lydia, 1808; Abel Marcy, 1811; and Punderson, 1814.

Obituary "Republican Farmer and Democratic Journal", Wiles-Barre, PA, 13 Feb 1833, page 3:
"Died at his residence, at Tunkhannock of Friday the 8th inst., at half past 4 o'clock P.M. CYRUS AVERY Esquire, in the 62d year of his age. His funeral was numerously attended on Sunday the 10th inst., and his remains were interred in the Family burying ground".
