Sharon Lee (Alton) Mahan was born October 14, 1939, in Waterloo, the daughter of George and Frances (Shetler) Alton.

She graduated from Nashua High School in 1957.

Sharon was united in marriage to Jerry Mahan on April 7, 1958, at Hyattsville, Md.

She worked for C. H. Snider at the Ben Franklin store in Nashua for many years, then at Hillendale's in New Hampton for about 4 years. When Kmart opened in Charles City, Sharon was one of their first employees. She remained there until 1997, when she could no longer work due to failing health.

Sharon Lee Mahan, 64, of Nashua passed away Friday morning, January 2, 2004, at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at the Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua, where there will be a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at a later date at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, in Charles City.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Alton in 1999; one sister, Joanne Hurlbut in 1972.
