On the 16th of June 1915, Gertrude married Wallace Alston, son of Grey Sills Alston and the former Elizabeth "Lizzie" Muse of Starkville, Mississippi. Gertrude and Wallace had four children:

Marion Huber Alston (1922 – 1925)
