OBITUARY:

Leslie Vinson, 78, of Wagoner, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Coweta Manor Nursing Home. Services were 9:00a.m., Monday, January 28, 2002 at the Shipman Chapel in Wagoner, with the Rev. Carl Murphy officiating. Burial followed at the New Hope Cemetery in Hulbert. Funeral services are under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory.

He was born to William "Ben" and Mattie Vinson on August 15, 1923 in Bokoshe, Ok. In his earlier years, he and his father traveled from South Canadian where they made cross ties, to Missouri where they picked berries, while picking cotton and anything else they could find to do along the way.

Leslie went to work for the railroad in 1943. After he was laid off from the railroad, he started working at a Booster Plant in Guymond and later came to Hulbert and went to work farming where he met and married Addie Marie (Moore) Vinson. Leslie worked at various jobs throughout his life. He worked on a farm and dairy for Lonnie Blair in Wagoner for 15 years before moving to Siloam Springs, Arkansas., where he worked for Delbert Allen on a ranch before retiring in 1988. He moved to Wagoner in October, 1990.

He was admitted to Coweta Manor Nursing Home on January 9, 2002 after suffering several small strokes that affected his mind.

Leslie was preceded in death by: his parents Mattie and William Vinson; granddaughter Dana Faith Virginia Woods Evans; brothers Henry Freeman Vinson and Dock Blufford Vinson; Sisters Florence Irene Vinson Floyd and Opal Mabel Vinson Bly.

He is survived by: his wife Addie Marie Vinson of the home; Peggy Lou Yarbrough and husband Jerry of Wagoner; Christine Woods and husband Howard of Colcord, LaDonna Bullard and husband Earl of Sapulpa. Mattie Dierking of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; six grandchildren: Gary Eugene Yarbrough of Wagoner, Jeffery Lynn Yarbrough and wife Lisa of Wagoner, Sandra Louise Virginia Woods McCoy and husband Chris of Westville, Richard Eugene Young and wife Becky of Wagoner, Charles Edwin Young and wife Judy of Sapulpa, John Wesley Renfroe of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; nine great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were: Bill Culwell, Andrew Moore, Gerald Moore, Larry Moore, Jimmy "Pete" Moss & Chris Wilson

Honorary Pallbearers were: Boyd Cagle and Lawrence Hefner
