Mr. Gentry retired from John Umstead and farming. He served in the US Army at the conclusion of WWII and he was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Gentry is survived by his mother, Carrie Todd Gentry, of Roxboro; ten children, Donnie Lee Gentry and wife Valerie, of Hurdle Mills, James Todd Gentry and wife Mary, of Henderson, Michelle Gentry Williams and husband Kelly, of Benson, Nancy Bowman Pittman and husband Loyd, of Beeville, TX, Teri Bowman Murphy and husband Thom, of Zebulon, Jeanne Bowman Ellington, and husband Keith, Bobbi Gentry House, and Tommy Bowman and wife Sue, all of Oxford, Donny Bowman and wife Jane, of Halifax, VA and Debra Braddy and husband Jim, of Mt. Airy; thirty-three grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Mill Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Robertson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
