Graveside services for James O. Rodden, 74, of Lubbock will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in the City of Lubbock Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Winn officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Rodden died on Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in West Texas Skilled Nursing Facility.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1923, in Dallas. He moved to Lubbock in 1948. He graduated high school in Dallas, and he attended Stanford University, where he played baseball. He attended Southern Methodist University, UCLA and Texas Tech University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as the state president of the Private Club Association of Texas. He was the one-time owner and operator of several Lubbock nightclubs, including one of the first nightclubs opened in Lubbock.

Survivors include a special friend, Dorothy Heath of Lubbock; two sons, Kelly Rodden of Lubbock and Richard Rodden of Dallas; three daughters, Sandra Rogers of Wolfforth, Kathy Dewey of Amarillo, and Shannon McCowan of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
