Sad And Untimely Death of a Respected Young Man
Chant R. Black, a well known and respected young man of the lower end of town
Chant R. Black, a well known and respected young man of the lower end of town, died shortly before ten o'clock last night after only a few days' illness with pneumonia. He had not been well for several days prior to Thanksgiving, but only became seriously ill that day.
The decedent was 23 years of age and was unmarried. Both parents are dead but he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ada Moore and two brothers, Messrs. George and Sam Black. The young man was an employe of the shipyard and was liked and respected by all who knew him for his good character and kind heart. He was a member of Madison Lodge of Odd Fellows. A wide circle of friends will learn with deepest sorrow and sympathy of the young man's death and the bereavement of the sister and brothers, all of whom were deeply attached to the decedent.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the house and the burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
