James MORRISON, Esq., an old settler in this locality and well known throughout the State, breathed his last yesterday morning. His death has been sudden, hastened no doubt by wounds inflicted upon himself, while in a state of supposed partial insanity, some days since. he undoubtedly intended self destruction, but did not in the attempt inflict injuries that had that immediate effect, though they were in the end the cause of his death. he had been much exercised of late in regard to some pending suits to a considerable amount, growing out of the old business firm of Morrison, Doty and Bird, and the inciting cause of his attempt at self destruction is attributable no doubt to circumstances connected with these proceedings. He leaves an aged and much respected widow.
