Last will and Testament of Michael Whelan

In the name of God amen. I Michael Whelan being now of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and Testament in manner following that is to say, first, I appoint my wife, Jane M Whalen [sic] sole executrix of this my will and I request and direct that she may not as such executrix be required to give any bond in the Probate Court of cook County, and I hereby waive the giving of any bond by her as such executrix. Second, I direct and request that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my executrix immediately after my decease and with as little delay as possible. Third, I will devise and bequeath to my wife Jane M. Whalen [sic] all real and personal estate whatsoever and wherever situated of which I may die seized or possessed of to be held used and employed by her during her natural life and after her death I will devise and bequeath to my son William Whalen [sic] all my right title and interest in and to lot five in block sixty six Canal Trustees subdivision of the south west quarter of section nine Township Thirty nine Range fourteen in the original town of Chicago known as the premises 135 West Lake Street in said City of Chicago, being part of my said real estate and after the death of my said wife I will devise and bequeath to my son Thomas P. Whalen, [sic] my half interest in Lots twenty six, twenty seven and twenty eight in block fourteen Vernon Park addition to Chicago in section seventeen township thirty nine Range fourteen being the premises located at the North West corner of Taylor Street and Centre Avenue in the City of Chicago, and after the death of my said wife, I also will devise and bequeath to my son Thomas P Whalen [sic] Lot twelve in block thirty of the south East quarter of section seventeen township thirty nine range fourteen east of the third principal meridian being the premises known as 451 South Halsted Street Chicago. It is my will that the devise and bequest of my interest in my real estate so made by me to my said sons William Whalen [sic] and Thomas P Whalen [sic] to all intents and purposes to vest in them a life interest only and at their death of the death of either of them the title is to decend to the child or children of him or them as may be living at his or their decease.

Michael Whelan signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his presence and of each other have signed as witnesses.
