MRS. A.B. KOLB PASSES AWAY AT OXFORD, OHIO

Mrs. Phoebe Kolb, wife of Abram B. Kolb of 518 Jauriet court, died at 11 o'clock last night at the Oxford, Ohio, "Retreat", to which she had been taken on August 27, last, following a nervous breakdown whose symptoms became apparent in June 1915. Prior to the latter date she had enjoyed excellent health. After going to Oxford she continued to decline in strength, and her condition became critical a week ago yesterday, when she was seized with convulsions. In response to a telegram, her husband and daughter Constance hurried to her bedside. She was able to recognize them, but unable to talk, although apparently suffering no pain.

Surviving Mrs. Kolb are her husband and four children - Helen L. Kolb who will arrive from the Indiana State university tonight; Clemens B. and John F. Kolb, twins, and Constance. Her father, Rev. John F. Funk, also survives, and there is a sister, Miss Martha Funk. Her mother died six months ago, just after Mrs. Kolb was taken to Oxford.

The funeral arrangements have not been completed.

A Native of Elkhart.

Mrs. Kolb was born in Elkhart May 30, 1867, and after graduating from the high school in 1884 she took the teachers' normal course at Valparaiso. Following two years' experience as a teacher, she took the full commercial course in the Bryant & Stratton college in Chicago.

Her marriage of Mr. Kolb, then editor of the Herald of Truth and other periodicals published by the Mennonite Publishing Co., took place on January 3, 1893.

She united with the Mennonite church in 1888, and for many years was actively engaged in Sunday school work, especially in the primary department, in which she took a deep interest, and for which she was unusually well fitted. A relative said today:

"Her loss is deeply felt in her family. She was a faithful wife, kind and devoted mother, and a sincere follower of her Lord and Master, in whom she found peace and comfort through all the trials of life, and we mourn for her as one, 'Not lost but gone before.'"
