Philippine Insurrection Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the United States Army in Company L, 37th Infantry, U.S. Volunteers. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action September 17, 1900 near Mabitac, Laguna, Luzon, Philippine Islands. His citation reads "After the attacking party had become demoralized, fearlessly led a small body of troops under a severe fire and through water waist deep in the attack agains the enemy."
