Eldon Leroy "Butch" Price, 67, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at the South Wind Hospice House in Pratt, KS. Born September 28, 1944, at Protection, KS, he was the only son with three older sisters: Marquice, Donna, Nila, and one younger sister: Julie, born to Hiram and Neva (Hughes) Price. On November 20, 1965, he married Pamela Todd at Protection, KS. Together they have four wonderful sons: Todd, Travis, Tracy, and Tyler.

Butch was a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. He attended Protection Grade School and Protection High School. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Protection, KS. He was a fireman and served as fire chief for the Protection Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a mechanic, started working in the oil field in 1981, and taught his boys the meaning of work and making a living with their talents. He loved to hunt and fish and had a lot of great times camping and fishing. Butch was also a good shot and enjoyed going to trap shoots. He loved to watch NASCAR and Team #24, attending a few races in Kansas City and Texas. He enjoyed flying and obtained his pilot's license in 1968. You didn't usually see him without his 4 legged friends either. Butch was a person who was always there to help, no matter time or place. He loved life and people, and was always looking at the beauty around him.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Pam Price of Protection, KS; four sons: Todd Price of Protection, KS, Travis Price and his wife Becky of Bucklin, KS, Tracy Price and his wife Melissa of Protection, KS, and Tyler Price and his wife Morgan of Protection, KS; two sisters: Marquice Manuel and her husband Tom of Tulsa, OK, and Julie Herd and her husband John of Protection, KS; a brother-in-law: Charlie Swayze of Medicine Lodge, KS; two step-brothers: Steve Rainbolt and Tom Rainbolt; one step-sister: Patricia Shipman; thirteen grandchildren: Kenzie and Steven McBryde, Quinn Price, Abbi, Janae, Scott, and Halli Price, Drew Addison, and Mallory Price, and Parker, Piper, and Blake Gunner Price; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Donna Story and Nila Swayze, his step-father: Edwin Rainbolt; and his mother-in-law: Wintie Todd.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 12, 2012, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at the First Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rusty Westerfield presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
