George Robert Maynard, a former resident of State Center, died early last Wednesday morning at Osceola, South Dakota, of peritonitis following an operation for appendicitis. He had undergone an operation on June 18th.

George Robert Maynard was born in Marshall county, Ill on March 9th, 1861 and came with his parents to State Center at the age of nine months. Here he grew to manhood when he went to South Dakota, where he has been engaged in managing elevators most of the time since. He was manager of the Farmers Elevator at Osceola at the time of his death.

Mr Maynard was never married. He is survived by seven brothers and one sister: T.W. Maynard, Frank S Maynard, John W Maynard, James G Maynard, Albert M Maynard, Fred L Maynard, Charles Maynard and Mrs F.E. Torrence.

The funeral services were held in this city Saturday at the Presbyterian church in charge of Rev Fred A Smith. Burial was in the family lot in Hillside cemetery.
