Mrs Mary J Jones, 84, a resident of this community for over 30 years, passed away Sunday evening at Stone's Nursing Home after an illness of about two months. Mrs Jones suffered a stroke on August 23 at which time she was taken to the nursing home. She was afflicted with another stroke last Wednesday.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from Brimhall West Funeral Home with pastor Harvey Pence of Eldora officiating. Interment was in Hillside cemetery.

Mrs Jones was born July 16, 1873 in Robinson, Indiana, the daughter of Isaac and Irene McDonald Lewis. She received her education in that community and on August 2, 1889 she was married to Joseph Jones at Park, Indiana. Mr Jones died in 1909.

In 1918 Mrs Jones moved with her family to Iowa and since 1925 she has made her home here with her daughter, Mrs Alva Stone.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Brantley of Zearing, Ora T of Arco, Idaho, Ralph of Waterloo and Frances (Mrs Alva) Stone of State Center. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A brother, Newton Lewis of Lenton, Indiana also is a survivor. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death.

Mrs Jones was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
