Mrs. Henry Boxberger, Katherine Karst Boxberger was born November 21, 1876. Her parents George Adam and Margaret (Zwetzig) Karst, enroute to Russell County from Russia, made a stop in their long journey at Kansas City, Mo. This was her birthplace. Her death occured 9 April 1960 at Russell,Kansas. In early infancy she was baptized, on March 30, 1890 she was confirmed in the Bender Hill Community School House. She was united in marriage to John Henry Boxberger on 3 March 1895. Ten children were born to this marriage, 7 of whom survive. After their marriage, they lived on the Boxberger homestead 3 & 1/2 miles southwest of Russell. Here they reared their family and Sept. 1922 moved from active farm life and came to Russell home 436 Main St. here, across the street from their churc. They enjoyed seeing and visiting with their children, relatives and friends. On 27 August 1951, her husband died after sharing with her 56 years of devoted companionship. She became ill about 2 months ago and was a patient at Russell Hospital twice during this time. Last Saturday evening at 10:20pm with her children at her bedside, she quietly and peacefully fell asleep.
She leaves her children Solomon, Natalie, Herman, Ludwig, Margaret, Mollie, Pauline all Russell; 14 grand; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Emanuel Karst, Hoisington; 3 sisters Mrs. Eva Deines, WaKeeney; Mrs. Anna Radke, Russell; Mrs.. Millie Borger, Ness City.
Services Tuesday 12 Apr Deines Funeral Home and St. John's Lutheran Church, Rev. Otto Matthias. Buried in church cemetery.
