He was born Dec. 13, 1924, the son of Clarence and Julia (Johnson) Verplank. J.C. owned and operated Verco Painting in Owatonna for 20 years. He was a WWII Vet and a member of the American Legion. He had been active in AA for 25 years in Owatonna.
Joyce is survived by his daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann, a daughter Shirley, a grandson Brett, a great granddaughter Ame, and a sister Margie.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday at Michaelson Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at Michaelson Funeral Home. There will be a private burial. Honors will be provided by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit.
