Leona (Toni) Hatch Miller died on March 2, 2012, at age 88. She was born August 2, 1923, in Swan Lake Idaho, the sixth of eight children of Edwin and Ethel (Gooch) Hatch. In her early years she lived in Cove, Hyrum, and Paradise.
She married Kae V. Miller on November 12, 1941, and they raised their children in Hyrum, Logan, and North Ogden. Toni loved to collect dolls, do handiwork, and be with friends. In addition to nurturing her children, she served in church leadership positions, helped with school lunch, worked at Z.C.M.I., and sold real estate.
Toni and Kae were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they were sealed in the Logan Temple. Together they served missions in Ghana, Africa, and Anchorage, Alaska.
After their missions they lived in Brookings, Oregon, and in St George, Utah. In 2009 they moved back to Cache Valley to be closer to family. It was fun to have them close by, and mom especially liked winning family games of Skipbo.
Her last years were complicated by the health problems typical of aging, and especially by having a stroke in 2005, from which she made a remarkable recovery.
Toni was preceded in death by her husband Kae (KV). She is survived by her children Joan (Tom) Anderson, Brent (Kevon) Miller, Bart (Jana) Miller, and David (Mary) Miller, and by 20 grandchildren and 23 plus great grandchildren.
Toni's Hatch siblings were closely bonded throughout their lives. Terrance (Helen) Hatch; Terrell (Zona) Hatch; Carrell (Don) Thorpe; and Bartley (Ilene) Hatch are still living. Toni was preceded in death by siblings Agatha (Ivan) Allen; Myron (Faun) Hatch; and Darlene (Reese) Richmond.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11:30 AM, at the North Logan 8th LDS Chapel on 2540 North 400 East in North Logan, preceded by a viewing from 10:00 to 11:15. Interment will be in the Hyrum Cemetery.
Family members express appreciation to Legacy House staff and friends, and health care professionals including Alysia Jenson, Lisa Mitchell, and Dr. Jeff Strong who provided excellent care for their mother in recent months.
