Graveside services for Rommy Austin White, age 71, of Brownwood, Texas, will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood with Pastor Tony King officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Blaylock Funeral Home. Rommy passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, in the Brownwood Skilled Nursing Facility.
Rommy Austin White was born on January 25, 1941, in Big Springs, Texas, to Roland H. White and Dorothy E. Smart-White-Benes. He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1971, and had worked as a truck driver and in the oil fields. Rommy loved his friends and family, his dog Snowy and his Texas Longhorns.
Survivors are his longtime friend and companion Connie Olin of Brownwood; step-father Anton Benes of Brownwood, son Mike and wife Judy Coates of Keyes, CA, daughter Dana and husband David Brantley of Merced, CA and daughter Jodie and husband Larry Don Freeman of Dover, AR; Brother Johnny and wife Nina White of Plainview, TX, Sister Dee Dee and husband Earl King of Coahoma, TX, Sister Serena Carter from Kilgore, TX, Sister Judy & husband Eddie Mann from Big Spring, TX, Sister Ginger & husband JC Gosssett from Colorado City, TX, Brothers Roland E. White and James White both from Big Springs, TX; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by Parents: Roland H. White and Dorothy E. Smart-White-Benes and son RD White.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood is in charge of arrangements for Mr. White.
