Mary Elsena, daughter of James and Mariah Lock, was born in Marion Co. Iowa, September 23, 1850, and departed this life Thursday morning July 14, 1938, at the home of her son Odie Eshom, one mile south of Marysville, aged 87 years 9 months and 21 days.
On August 7,1875, she was united in marriage to John Eshom, and to this union, five children were born. Two children dying in infancy, and one daughter Emma died 18 years ago. Those now living to mourn this passing are Mrs. Myrtle Brady and Odie Eshom, both of Marysville; also 3 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends.
All of Mrs. Eshom's life was spent in and near Marysville, on Aug. 7, 1936 Mr. and Mrs. Eshom celebrated their 61st weding anniversity. Mr. Eshom was taken by death April 18, 1937.
Mrs. Eshom was converted when quite young and was a member of the Marysville M.E. Church at the time of her death and was a active attendent as long as her health would permit.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Marysville M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Rowe of Lovilia. Burial Marysville cemetery.
