Death of John Thornton
John Thornton, who died on Thursday moring the 12th inst. in the 68th year of his age was in comparatively good health until the morning of his death, having walked out the day before for some time. Nearly all his life was spent in Niagara, he took part in the stirring times of 1836 and 37, and was well known and highly respected. He leaves a wife and eleven sons and daughters to mourn his loss. His remains were interred in St. Mark's cemetery on Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, the Rector, Rev. J.C. Garrett, officiating. A large number of our citizens were present at the funeral.
