Lucina King , daughter of Newell and Clarissa King was born near Cheshire , Ohio, Jan 31, 1843,, and departed this life March 27th , 1924, aged 81 years 1 month and 28 days. She was of a family of 14 children , of whom only two survive her.. Stewart of Kansas City, Kan and Wesley of Raymore, Mo. She was united in marriage in George N Swisher, Dec. 26, 1870, near Cheshire where they resided at the time of her death. To this union were born four children all of who are living to mourn the loss of a kind and lovng mother. The sons are M.K. Swisher, near the old home place and Harlow of Middleport : the daughters are Mrs. Noah Davis of Galliopolis and Mrs. Ed George of Bulaville. Besides these she leaves her husband , a number of granchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The saddest of all is that the husband has defect eyesight and could not look upoon the whom for 54 years he had loved and helped along the road of life; nevertheless he realized that there is a time coming when his eyes shall be opened . He took his wife by the hand the day before her death and said "by the help of God I will meet, you in Heaven." He could not see but he could speak words that meant so much , of of the heart man speaketh.
Mother Swisher was a kind wife and mother, love her family and was much devoted to her home. She was aways ready and willing to help those who needed help. At an early age, under the preaching of Rev. Oscar Baker, who was holding meeting , at Cheshire, she became converted and later joined the church of Old Kyger. Perhaps Mother Swisher like many others , did not live as close to God as she should; such was her confession , but her last day and hours , she renewed her convenant by confessing her faith in God by confessing her faults. She was conscious until the last quoting parts of scripture found in the 23rd Psalm.
Her last request was that her husband and all meet her in Heaven. The she passed away with a smile upon her lips.
